Recruitment Fraud in name of UK Trade and Investment

It seems that apart from lottery, inheritance, dormant accounts, piles and secret visits, now another fraud is being played. The targetted group are people who have some skilled qualification or higher education.

A most common email inviting application for recruitment in United Kingdom in name of UKTI ( a government organisation), contains an address line "Tay house, 300 bath street, Glasgow,"

The path is as follows:

It is not the only path. Some other Recipients have some different paths also.
The other identifiable feature to detect this fraud as suggested by an online legal advisor is the phone numbers which are as follows:
447014267807 OR +447014267792, FAX:+447005946961

As per the advice of the legal advisor, the phone numbers starting with 70 can be accessed from anywhere in Europe.

The government agencies, which this email is pretending to be, mostly use landline numbers.

On contacting on these number, by this blogger, it is found that man does not have an accent similar to the British people. He seems to be 50 plus, having some chest problem and probably and Indian.

Further, it is reported by another recipient, that they first send papers to be filled and to be deposited with British Council in India. But, immediately after that, they ask you to contact their representative in Mumbai and suggest you to pay his fees in range of 450 pounds in order to get support for processing the papers with the council. Hence, it is something which is not all transparent.

In addition to that the photograph which appears in the email, is that of some European official attending some conference. He is not the person in whose name that email is sent.
One of recipient has informed that the emailer had claimed that he had obtained his profile from Naukri.com. The Naukri.com people should also get concerned about such type of frauds.

Let us hope that British Council and British Government should check these people who are operating from Glasgow.

  2. Dear Vinod,

Thanks for writing in and also for authenticating my observation.

    Just a further lay outs.

After making this post, I have received another email from some Kingston hotel people. Secondly, some people have reached my post searching for ip client-ip=64.12.143.152. Similarly, some of the people have directly reached this post.

I must tell you that when I tried to contact this person on phone, he kept his talk to minimum and even asked my name specifically. Then, as a professional, he asked me to call me on a working day as I had called him on Saturday. He asked about the time in India. There I got suspicious. I have some friends in Leeds, and regularly talk to them. When I talked to their children, they have a peculiar accent which has taught me to identify a person from Britain. Anyhow, it seems that you have same conclusion.

Thanks for writing in. It is surprising that you have not made your profile public. You should do that.
